  • I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Hello!! Just when you thought the 'newlyweds' had vanished off the face of the earth... I return to once again resurrect my old xanga site.  Ahh. [and to think, if my hubby hadn't remembered my super-random password, I wouldn't even have gotten this far! so mom--you should appreciate that. )

So. Well this is going to be a quick update:

We finally had the infamous "Washington Boro" tomatoes from our Pennsylvania home. Apparently that's what the area is known for. And yes, they are rather tasty.

I absolutely LOVE being married to my best friend.  That's more of a reminder than an update I suppose.

Winston [our horse] is doing well, and his travel agent [AKA me] is working out arrangements for his new home & transportation. yehaw!

gotta run-- we are off to make friends, and set things on fire... maybe now that we have internet at our own house [wow! a year without such luxuries, I hardly know how to react] I shall make more and better efforts at reconnecting online.

    till next time!

so the other day, I was thinking about something a former riding instructor [tho I only got a few lessons from her due to time, etc] had challenged me with about 2 years ago in New York... What was my goal with Winston?

Well now, it kind of took me by surprise, because I have always rambled about how "maybe one day I'll be riding upper levels on some NICE horses"... and with Winston, well hey--we're friends. I guess when I got him I was really intense on 'training, training, training!' and 'the more lessons the better' which i still think that way and daydream about getting my dressage lessons back!!! , but now I seem to have subdued myself with just keeping that super-special bond between us.

Back to the goal--after thinking about it for a couple of minutes, I decided on something that would take work, but also give us time because I realized we didn't have the training & lesson opportunities I used to.  "Well," I ventured cautiously, "I'd like to reach 2nd level by the time he's 9." I personally thought it sounded tame, but like I said--we don't have the training we need.  I think she thought it sounded a little boring, too. but oh well.

So now... my beloved 4 legged friend has just turned 8 this past Saturday.... which means I have one more year to reach my goal. I know we can do this, he has got such an awesome work ethic and an athletic body to boot.  But I am at a loss as to how to get there by myself.  Every time I get on him, if we work together he gives me 100%. It is time to move on.
My next question.... how do we do this?

I believe I will go and search for some second level information online. Till then... anyone have any suggestions?

    Where we are at consistently:
decent forwardness, balance, obedience, bending & suppleness, legyield, shoulder fore, balanced counter canter

    Where we are MOST rides:
even tempo, sometimes lengthenings, explosive [in a good way!] forwardness when I want it

  • posting again...

Can't honestly think of anything specific to type about, but I almost feel compelled to put SOMETHING down on here in all my spare time.

Let's see... an update on my new and improved life [improvement being the marriage to my best friend, Andrew Hoey!!]: I get busier and busier with each passing week, and I'm having a blast! I work at a personal care home with my new mom-in-law & sister-in-law, tho not usually on the same shifts, and am enjoying the job [and all its interesting quirks] My baby Winston is finally down in PA with us! He lives close by and I try to get out to work him as often as possible, weather & daylight permitting! He's doing great...my hubby may take some (action) shots of us working out, which will be cool because honestly, I don't even know what we look like when we ride! Ah, some day i will get lessons again...
I try to get out to Julie's to play at her barn when I can... this month hasn't really wrked out too well, but when it does I've been cleaning paddocks, grooming horses & riding a little gray Appendix mare named Lily. She's pretty cute & smart...
Drew's working hard, as many whopping hours as he can get....[if you know the story, you probably realize & understand what I'm insinuating about his lovely workplace.  He is doing great though, and I'm proud of him!]

Can't think of anything else significant.  Christmas with the in-laws, New Years with my family.  I'm excited to see both sides & hang out

Anyone still on xanga, and planning on doing anything for the Holidays?

    God bless!

  • worth the wait

I suppose this may be slightly late in coming... and I unfortunately do not have time to "dig in" to this topic today as deeply as I would  like, but here is the short version-

When God gives us rules, they're for a purpose.  When He says to wait for sex until a man & woman are married, there's a reason.  [There's actually a LOT of reasons, and God willing I will get on here some day when i have spare time and list all the ones I can think of!]

It is so worth the wait!!!

*and do not let anyone tell you otherwise--after all, God created sex; wouldn't He be the one to understand its complexities more than any mere human could assume?

ps- I LOVE MARRIED LIFE! for more reasons than one!

so... not much coming to mind to write about.  I guess I'm just procrastinating what I SHOULD be doing, which is figuring out a playlist for the reception. Ughhhhhhhh. haha! oh, it will be so worth it... but I will honestly say I'm looking forward to life AFTER the wedding more than the little party we have the day of. i mean really--who knew there were so many details involved?!

Still scraping the bottom of the piggy bank [tho really i have an applesauce jar, so that's not entirely true] I'm now in a group study of learning to use GOD'S money as a good stewart [which is in fact my job on earth]. the study's thru Crown Financial. It's a great set-up, and I'm doing alright [now if only i could be consistent in my homework!] [Yes I have homework. goody.]

Emily is testing my ability to type without seeing. I think shes trying to gouge my eyeballs out; this is starting to hurt. [She's got her hands over my face]

Winston is doing good.  In case anyone missed out on this fun little piece of info, we had a slumber party Saturday night at the barn. [somebody wasn't feeling so good] he is doing lots better now [and thank God, without the help of an expensive vet!!] for now.

Ok enough procrastinating. This wedding isn't going to plan itself.

*dives, once again, beneath the ever-growing tasks & lists piled high*

    till next time...

    God bless!

ps- this book: some pretty good stuff. need to apply it to my own life.
